Very slowly. One hour per car (one oil and filter change)

Hey guys, thanks a lot.

I honestly didn't expect such a variety of answers. I've never had any leaks. The cost of 2 oil changes every 3k (so 2 changes by 6k) is the same as 1 change of synthetic every 6k for me. No savings there.

The fact that some of you have switched is surprising to me because "everyone" and these are all people selling oil or at various car dealerships, has told me once you switch, you cannot switch back. So I thought that this was a scientific fact, perhaps it's not??

I think the adage "if ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here, and I think I will stick with normal oil still, truly surprising this post turned out to be.

You can get synthetic for much less than 2x of Dino and the oil filter and Labour make it more economical.

Indeed, this year has been tough on the facts

Here's my oil report after 5,700 miles on my engine. The only way to really tell if the oil is for you is to do a oil analysis.

I didn't know we could get oil analyzed. Is this a common analysis an owner should be doing? I have never done this, but I'm interested in why people do this. I'm all ears.

I like this.

The one thing I will say about guys like you (NERDS!!!! :D ) is that a guy who is fastidious enough to use Amsoil is probably extraordinarily careful about everything else with his car. In other words, while Amsoil is part of your success, it's only a part.

By the way, did I read that correctly? Over 345,000 miles? Love it!

I'll just quote them.

http://www.blackstone-labs.com/
Oil analysis is a quick, nondestructive way to gauge the health of an engine by looking at what's in the oil. People use oil analysis for different reasons: to see if there are any problems developing, to see if their oil is working well in the engine, and to see if they can run longer oil changes. Get started with your analysis by ordering a free test kit.

You haven't changed the oil between 345k and 390k ?? If so, why so much mileage between a change?

Man that is fantastic - congrats! Is it the original engine?

I may have missed it, but what kind of Volvo is this?

What gave you that idea? I change my oil every 5-8k.

94 850 turbo

Took the original engine out at 333k, and put in a 160k used engine, which means current engine have 217k on it.
