96 850 GLT Transmission Fluid

Post by osmium »

When I replace the CV boot on the driver side, the transmission fluid that leaked out when the axle was removed was a lot more brown than it appears on the dip stick. So I'll do a few drain and fills.

With about 254k on it, any reason not to switch a synthetic? Is it ok to have synthetic/non-synthetic mixture during the drain and fill process?

It didn't seem to hurt mine with about the same miles. I started with the cheap stuff then went to Mobil synth, Castrol Transmax in it now. Clear and clean like new.

If there is no leak, synthetic is fine. If there is leak, use convention. Yes, you can mix.
