Hello there, and thank you for reading this post.

Last week I was driving our 2002 V70 down the freeway at 70 mph when it suddenly sounded like I'd thrown it in reverse or park while moving forward, making a very loud grinding sound. No gears work. When I put it in park I hear a ticking sound. Engine works fine.

I had it towed home since everything was shut down for the holidays Hoping someone could shed some light on whether or not this could be something as simple as broken linkage or something before I have one mechanic after another say it needs a whole new transmission.

Thanks in advance for your kind replies.
