2001 S60 Front right clunk...upper endlink nut loose
I have a 2001 s60 non turbo with about 191k on it. I have a clunk from the right passenger area when going over small bumps. The noise goes away at higher speeds. I checked to make sure everything was right and it was. The tie rods have slight play in them but I plan on replacing them soon. Since everything was right I decided to bounce my car and heard nothing. Next I drive it and swerved from side to side and the sound would happen anytime the car rolled to the other side. Sway bar end links possibly? There was no play but could they still be bad? Possible sway bar bushings?

I assume no play with the wheel off ground?
When checking end links for play, the link should be disconnected, so there's no tension on it. Sway bar bushings also go bad (tricky job), can be seen with the wheel at full lock. The other parts that go bad are the top bearing plate and the upper spring seat.

The swerve test is pointing to a bad bearing. Mine lasted about150k in NY weather

Took it out for a drive earlier after I tightened the top nut on the front right sway bar end link. It turned several times and I could see where the nut was rubbing the strut. I have no clue how it could have become loose other than through driving. Anyways the clunk is gone and all is well, thanks!
