98 V70 - Vinyl by door latch coming un-done...

Post by jjones »

My guess is that I'm not the only one who has seen this. Any clues on how to fix it?

Thanks,

My S70 has that same problem. Not sure of a fix, but I'm not too concerned. It's no big deal since I'm not looking at it ever.

Welcome to the club. I've never seen an S70 without peeling vinyl. From what I understand, the cause is the actual foam backing under the vinyl deteriorating and the only fix is to take the panel to an upholstery shop. I've seen a couple reupholstered and the new material didn't really match the rest of the door panel. Maybe a contrasting color would look better? then you'd have to do all four doors.

You know posting 8 or 9 posts with one sentence is very annoying.
How about gathering your thoughts, put all your questions neatly in ONE POST.
I think maybe you will get a response that way instead of you singlehandedly moving all today's posts to the bottom and off the page!

I was thinking about that, but then I thought of search engine results for other people looking for answers to each specific problem... so I broke them up. I find it annoying to look for an answer to one thing and find that the question was asked about 10 things and my question wasn't answered. Next time I'll space my posts. Thanks for the input.

I sure hope that you didn't pay a lot for this one.
Why do you want to know where the A/C port is, no A/C? Hmm!
Charging it won't help, these car ALL need evaporators (they rust out) at some point or another, $1500.
The door panels pull off mostly all 98s' bad glue. The lights are cheap just ask any Volvo part supplier for them, they will know what you're talking about.
This one doesn't seem to be well kept, good luck, you may really need it
