Final drive unit replacement on a 2010 s80 awd unit

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Final drive unit replacement on a 2010 s80 awd unit

I have a 2010 s80 t6 engine. The final drive unit has to be replaced and I just hit 54000 miles. Volvo will not cover the repair,does this happen to most vehicles right after 50k miles? The repairs if 5k at dealership. I have only owned it for less than 2 years. Any suggestions on how to see about getting reimb from Volvo or is this acceptable? I do not have additional coverage on my vehicle past 50k miles.
