No orifice to speak of unless you're talking about the nipple that the pcv hose connects to at the bottom of the air intake (large diameter accordian hose from the MAF/Air Filter box to turbo). The Crankcase Ventilation (P stands for "positive") system on our Volvo's include a series of about 3 smaller hoses with the main one going to the oil separator or oil trap under the intake manifold, and then from there up to the top of the engine to recirulate condensed exhause (oil) back into the engine. You should check these hoses to make sure they aren't clogged, and clean them or replace them (most people just replace them...hoses get hard, brittle and it's a nasty job) at or before 100K miles. With a clogged pcv system, the engine seals begin to give out due to high pressure in the crank case. You can test all of this by seeing if there is smoke coming out of the oil dip stick while engine is on and/or taking the oil filler cap off while engine is running and putting your hand over the opening. A properly working pcv system will give you a bit of suction inward at this point, and not air blowing out. I replaced mine recently....it was an all day job and included taking the intake manifold off. You can buy a kit for your car at www.fcpgroton.com for a bit over $100. You'll need an intake manifold gasket too. If you don't see any kits for your car on their site, call them.
Good luck and I hope I helped answer your question.

When doing the PCV rebuild (using the kit from FCP Groton), it's noted in the Haynes manual that the intake manifold has to be removed. The Haynes manual also says that removing the injectors is part of that job -- and they say you have to replace the injector seals when reassembling.
The kit from FCP Groton did not include the injector seals.
1. Do you really have to remove the injectors?
2. If yes, do you really need to replace the seals?
Thanks,
Chuck

It's hard to take the intake manifold off without the injectors (impossible). However, just check the condition of the seals...be careful, there are spacers at the top that can fall off without you realizing it. If the seals are not cracked and still in good shape, they can be reused.
