Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Saved a '98 S70 with 78k on it from being scrapped for $400 last year (ate a timing belt) My son has been driving it for a year with no problems. He got a set of Dynaudios for Christmas and we are in the process of adding the C70 amp to run them. Over the past year I have picked up bits and pieces required for the full system. SC-901, center speaker, Dolby processor, dash pad with center speaker hole. Hopefully by next weekend we will have everything in!

Interesting! I used the Nokya ones before and they burned out in less than 4 weeks. But that was in the days when I drove the car for 2 hours a day, which I don't do anymore. I went back to normal Osram's and used a yellow tinting foil on the fog light glass. But it's not a very dark yellow at all and doesn't look that great.
I did the relay mod myself, works great.

Hmm, that's weird. I guess they were bad bulbs. I have been running mine, like I said, for a little over a year and my dad is running H7 versions of the same bulbs on his E39 528i for probably 6 months. No problems with either car.850 LPT wrote:Interesting! I used the Nokya ones before and they burned out in less than 4 weeks. I was impressed at first at how bold the color is for just changing the bulb and not tinting the lens!

Well, I've been battling a minor misfire at idle for while on the 850, which I drive every day right now. I was suspecting a small vacuum leak at the intake but can't find anything.
This morning at the diner things got worse. Totally erratic idle and a flashing check engine light. Time to make a phone call to my indie and wake up the V70 from it's slumber.

Similar to my random surging at idle. Hasn't done it in a couple weeks *knock on wood.*
I think I just had bad luck with the first crank sensor I swapped in. The only time it threw a CEL was while I was actually driving (it started coughing while driving) showed crank sensor circuit and 3 misfire codes. It's surged at idle once since I put in the current crank sensor, but like I said, it's been good since then.

Thread is back from the dead!
Got a text on Friday morning that the V70 (it is up in Minneapolis for the summer with our youngest) was spewing gas from under the car. A phone call later we figured out the fuel pipe was leaking after the filter. So I pulled that piece from my 97 parts car yesterday morning, rather than drop about $250 to the dealer. Except for removing the pipe from the plastic housing on the FPR, it was actually a lot easier than I expected. Drove up today and replaced it in the parking lot (at least the lot was empty on a Saturday), back home tonight.
It looks like a rock or hunk of metal etc bounced up and hit the old fuel pipe, there was a big gouge out of the jacket and a hole in the plastic pipe underneath. First time I've ever had any issue with that part on a P80.

That's crazy! I didn't even know that could happen. What are the odds?
