Morning All,

I just wanted to give an opinion on Meguiar's Ultimate Compund.

This stuff is absolutely AMAZING!

When we purchased our 00' V70 X/C SE a couple of months back, the body was in what I would say "good" condition. There was no rust to be had anywhere on the vehicle and just a small "dime size" ding or two here and there. However... there were numerous surface scratches in a few of the panels almost like "a dog jumped up on the car with it's paws and kept scratching repeatedly."

I read a bunch of reviews on this and everyone said how well it worked. My main reason for purchasing this was to remove some bird etchings that remained in the paint after removing the bird droppings.

Well, not only did remove the "etchings", it removed 80% of the surface scratches while at least lightening the rest and without affecting the paint quality too!. This first application was done by hand. I figure with a second application using an orbital buffer and the rest of them will come out as well.

I would recommend this product to anybody. 8)

I think the stuff is worth twice the price. You should have seen what this car looked like when I got it.

That front fender had pin striping when I brought it home from the junk yard. You cannot tell at all.

I'm planning on going over it again next week. It was driven throughout the Michigan winter.

Thanks for the tip guys. I polished the poop out of my car recently but I still feel it can clean up better. I will give this stuff a shot.

PS. Nice looking whip Ben.

Wash it, clay it, use the compound, then finish with their carnauba wax. Plenty of hours but well worth it! Their purple tire gel is awesome, and even smells like grapes :)

Excellent stuff! I used it + a FLEX polisher to compound the sled's 19yr old clear coat and it worked beautifully! No more swirl/scratch marks! It's tough to make a white car shine. Finished with DuraGloss and use AquaWax after washing and she still shines & beads water like crazy.

The Endurance Tire Gel is the purple stuff and does a great job, just need to make sure the rubber is clean before application. I like to apply it and let it soak-in overnight, then give it a quick wipedown in the morning to prevent any sling.

The wax I use is an "old school" tin of their Carnuba Plus paste wax but I've also added their synthetic sealant to my arsenal. I've not done this yet but when I have time, I'm going to put the wax on top of the sealant, which is supposed to add an extra level of shine.

I used Ultimate Compound on a black SUV I was selling that had been neglected for years, bad enough that the top and pillars had a "rainbow" sheen from buildup of environmental contaminants. Got a $20 buffer from Harbor Freight and spent a day going over the whole truck, keeping the pad damp and working the buffer slowly in multiple directions. All the buildup and fine scratches came out and the dingy paint actually looked like new again, it was shocking. Then applied a coat of black-tinted Turtle Wax (the cheap stuff from Autozone) to fill in the chips and deeper scratches, and the truck looked fantastic. New owner has had the truck for a year now, and it still looks great.

Won't ever buy a black vehicle again though, I can swear to that.
