I'm amazed I could actually hear it with the engine running, but lo & behold it was making that much noise. I leaned down as far as I dared and the coil is definitely arcing to something. I'll have to have a look when it's pitch dark outside. The coil is original and now 19yrs old. May have an internal/external housing crack.
Anyone else noticed this problem before?

I replaced the cap, rotor, wires and coil as part of my stage 0. I can very distinctly hear the coil firing. I've noticed no arching or sparking. I can also hear the the injectors clicking when I move my melon over the intake.

My injectors have always been noisy. For awhile I thought it might be the oil pan o-ring issue causing the lifters to make excessive noise. Fortunately not. Thus my surprise I could hear the coil firing even with such noisy injectors!!
