Two ads caught my attention recently, seemingly mint S70s with nary a mile on their clocks...
Engines and interiors look almost perfect.
Worth it?

The white one looks as fake as it gets. Rolled back odometer?
The blue one looks genuine excepts for the weird amount of armrest wear. Also someone put some shiny stuff on the engine, surely not the original old owner. Maybe the car had more than one owner.

I didn't even notice the plates... With all the salvage/no title vehicles in NYC, any plate is better than no plate!
Are those seats on the blue one really rare? I thought there were only the leather/pleather version and the terry cloth version on our P80s. (And of course, the dreamy two-tone suede R seats...)
Is it relatively easy to roll back the odometers on our P80s?

You don't remember those keypads from the 80s/early 90s? You had to punch in a code to get rolling... That certainly "dates" the car for me...crlande wrote:What is with the keypad on dash in image #10 of blue car?

Sheesh, for the person selling the 55K mile example: how can you not know that your Volvo is a five cylinder?
My blue V70 2000 wagon also had the totally peeled armrest vinyl; must have been a poor batch of plastic.
I had a Steal Stopper on my 1991 Mitsubishi Colt with the same pinpad. Great idea!!

It's the interwebz used car way of politely saying it may have burnt valves and they suspect some cylinders are underperforming.. They are being nice to not offend the new wave millennials.precopster wrote:Sheesh, for the person selling the 55K mile example: how can you not know that your Volvo is a five cylinder?![]()
