I am a little confused by the 'aluminum bell'. Do you mean the fuel pressure regulator?

I think poster means the quick connector behind the engine in the first few pictures.

on my 99 s70 fuel line connection is an aluminum bell hookup that runs out on top of the intake manifold. I think i will need one of those tools to disconnect it

Yes you will need one of fuel disconnect tools for that. Depending on what you are doing there is another one on some cars if replacing the fuel line to the rear of the car especially on AWD models. Tools are not typically expensive. Worth soaking the inside of the bell with some PB Blaster before doing the job as sometimes the metal band becomes stuck or slightly corroded and can be reluctant to release.

Good luck,

Neil.

Has anyone found a part number for the pipe going from the driver side fuel pump over to the passenger side of the tank and ending at the (if I remember right) silver pressure regulator?

See this thread below

The part is no longer -purchasable at Volvo

It used to come as a single piece running all the way to the front of the car. Back to the fuel filter, and over to the driver side tank via the fuel pressure regulator. You can make it up with Nickel copper 8 mm tube and hose for connections

i am starting to look for replacement fuel lines solutions too. Just replacement my fuel pump on my 2000. Now having leaks on a line and other lines are a bit rough. Thanks for all the great pics that got posted here.Just a pain in the butt working on the car when i don't have much time at night to work on the car. Car has been down since last year. :(

Abscate, thanks again for confirming. Sorry am not used to so many prompt forum responses and forgot to check back after posting! I had some fun with 8mm tubing and ended up running some fuel hose instead. Dropped the tank 4 times within 2 weeks after all was said and done.
Jay- I can understand your frustration. (Un)fortunately for me I switched jobs and thus lost my work truck, so rely on this as my only vehicle. Can use the girlfriend's car at times which is a life saver too but it's not my favorite, so I often get motivated enough to keep working well into the early morning hours when mine is down.

Will have to attack this area again in the near future, though. With any luck I'll be able to use the lift/put at work in the garage that services our work trucks, though. But I can't stand my obnoxiously loud new fuel pump I put in much longer. Anyone know if the actual pump motor from a 2000 c70 would work if I dismantled and installed it in the assembly for the 98 V70R? It's the most easily accessible and I know it's quiet at least.

Thanks again guys.
