2005 S40 CD eject error

Post by IDriveSwede »

This car has been a nightmare since I got it a week ago.. but now that all the brake issues are sorted out, I find out the CD player isn't ejecting the disc.

It just re-spins it every minute and it is annoying as all hell... "Disk error" "Ejecting" then it doesn't eject. This is a single CD player, not the 6 cd changer.

2 questions:

1. Can I take the CD player and remove the CD on my own? [EDIT SEE BOTTOM]

2. Can I buy a volvo CD player and replace it without going to the dealer and giving them my entire paycheck to put in a g*d d*amn cd player...

EDIT: I solved the CD being stuck, so simple it's stupid. If you hit the eject button and push another CD into the slot about half-way, slowly pull it out and the jammed CD will be on top - just pull it out with the other CD.

I still need to know if a new (volvo ebay) CD player can be switched out without getting reamed. OR if there is somehow an AUX adapter I can install

First: Congratulations on getting the CD out!

Next: If you just want to replace the CD player with another one of the same part#, I expect that it would be just a matter of unplug-plug and you would be back in business. I'm not sure why you want to replace the existing CD player, though. Are you afraid yet another CD will get jammed?

I've had my CD player down to the inner linkages and it all went back together successfully. That was a year ago; still going strong.

My solution for the missing AUX input was to use a Kenwood FM modulator to inject an FM signal into the antenna connector on the back side glass. I drive the modulator with a Bluetooth dongle that picks up the output of my tablet.
