Pick n pull finds yesterday

Post by scot850 »

Tried to find the old thread on the subject but can't find it as I can't recall the header title.

It was great to finally get out to our local PnP's again after the ankle lay-up. I missed the last weekend of 50% off sale as there was only one V70 listed and no 850's or other P80's. As this is always a busy event and we had snow I expected the one and only car to have been stripped and there was nothing at that time I needed anyway as it had a black interior.

A couple of days ago a 2000 V70 XC with beige interior came in and the weather had improved to +15C yesterday so off I went without the boss's knowledge (she would go crazy due to the ankle issue).

Anyway, I had 2 x $20 coupons about to expire again, so worth looking to see if there was anything I could get. 2 targets were wiper washer motors and interior load area RH panels.

Fortunately the 2 x V70's were 3 rows apart in the same yard, but in that yard you have to walk a fair way to get to the European vehicles as they are way at the back.

Glad I found one of their load carts to transport the tools and 'finds'!

The V70Xc was a true find as it had a couple of interior parts I have heard of but never seen. First one was the rear seat base with the 2 built in booster cushions. The leather was fairly good too, so they were earmarked to come home:
Rear seat with built in booster seat (1)
Rear seat with built in booster seat (1)
The single LH seat base seen here with the booster open in place
Rear seat with built in booster seat (2)
Rear seat with built in booster seat (2)
The RH double rear sear portion upside down on roof of project wagon

Another item found on the same car was the center rear armrest with the built in cup holders. I now have the full set I think of standard arm rest, built in booster seat (fitted just now) and now the one with the cup-holders. Decisions, decisions. Do I swap the rear seat base with the 2 boosters and take out the center booster and fit the cup-holders, or remove all the kid stuff as I have no small people currently to transport?

Guess I'll have to think on that one.

Also pulled 2 front and 2 rear wiper washer motors. Tested them when I got home, and as you guys rightly said both fronts worked fine, but only one rear one works. At $5 CDN each no big loss.

Also the V70XC had a mostly good recent looking air guide. It is missing the center clip in portion, and the rear tap is broken as always happens but that is easily fixed with some glue and pop-rivets and small metal bracket.

Final find was a good lower RH load area panel with the bonus cargo net attachment:

Hopefully it will clean up ok, but will have to drill the load cover holes again, bummer! The original replacement I have fitted has a small crack in it that I glued and reinforced for now. Evan has a good upper section for me which he will ship when he has time hopefully. I will look at swapping them over then.

Last thing I forgot about was what looks like un-used beige carpet mats including the 2 small ones under the 2 load nets in the rear (they were used). These look like they had been stored under the load area from new. Must stop collecting carpet mats and rubber mat sets. Can't help it when they are good condition. Anyone need any?

Today, a large box arrived from my brother in California with his PnP finds of a beige carpet set. They need a good clean but are better than what I have. Again a job for another day. I also found he had included a worn but whole LH front seatbelt guide in beige. Score! I am collecting these now as they are obsolete in beige for the LH front seatbelt.

Due to the $20 coupons it all came to about $45 US. Score!!!

Now just have to find somewhere to store it all!

Nice finds Neil. It's always a good feeling to come home with some quality or rare items, even when The Boss rolls her eyes at the door and hands you the Fast Orange.

Neil you're going to have to host a get-together one day...

Tents, porta-pottys, and that garage!

Great finds! I need to be on the lookout for new mats. Ours are a mess! And I don't know if our headliner will handle another summer of driving around with the windows down!

What's the saying, "Better to ask forgiveness....." or whatever!

If you want a set of carpet mats or the rubber mats I have many sets in black/dk. gray most in excellent condition! No idea why I have so many, but can't let good stuff like that go to the crusher!!

By comparison, My brother got a reasonable set of carpets for me at Windsor PnP in California for $20. What totally got me was USPS charged $130 to ship it here!! Holy Crap Batman. I shipped a full 3rd row seat set and seatbelts to NYC for $120 in a box more than twice the size and weight! I used to use USPS for shipments from the US but they have become really stupid expensive in the last 6-9 months. FCP has a deal with UPS and even they are way cheaper than USPS to Canada. I never thought I would see that!

Maybe I'll see him next time. We need to wear our MVS t-shirts to spot each other...
