Yes there is a difference between them. The holes for the rear bolts in the awd versions are different. Being the front hole facing the front end of the car is slightly lowered. Where as on fwd versions they are straight holes.

Bought the part from skandix its a quarter inch shorter then the original awd one. Dont buy it. Its a rip off

To try to help the debate, I pulled the lower (broken) torque mount from my 2000 V70 NA FWD today and compared it to one of the old AWD versions I have and took a few pictures to try to help others see the differences.

Some of the differences I'm not sure I can explain why and if they may make any difference, and most likely none at all.

Upper mount in picture is the FWD version. Only differences seen from this view is the shape of the front mounting section where the 2 studs are mounted. Not really sure if this would really make a difference. When viewed from the front they appear to be offset the same, so can't suggest why the difference in shapes unless there is something on the rear of the front cross member that determines the shape. In this case I think the forward portion would work on an AWD. The center portion between the bots is also the same. The front portions do have different Volvo part numbers which differentiates them.

Again FWD version is to the top of the picture. You can see the difference in the 2 bolt holes on the rear sections.

Viewed from above the mounts. RH one is only sagging as the rear mount has torn on the FWD version.

I cannot see and dimension differences between the 2 units or their respected bushes. There may be differences in the rubber stiffness but this I can't determine.

I looked at the replacement rear section that IPD does (ridiculous price $70 US - really!). I thing if the front bush on an AWD was good, this rear section could be used on a AWD, requiring some ovaling of the front hole to allow it to fit. From what I can see the FWD lower torque rod is used on P2's on both FWD and AWD versions. It may be possible to modify one of those by filing the front hole out. Not pretty, but could work.

Shame IPD don't sell the poly bush separately for the repair rear portion so you could swop it out yourself. Anyone want to take that on??

There are a couple of Swedish companies I have previously mentioned that sell the rear bushes separately, but again they only say for FWD.

Hope this helps those of you who are struggling with the lack of AWD parts.

Through I would update this. Both the Powerflex large and small bushings will work in the AWD mount.

On a side note, does anyone know the size of the bolts that go into the transmission? I messed up the first 3 threads and need to grab a tap to clean them up

I went through this after mine had snapped and got whatever I could from junker and replaced the bushings.

Sorry but don't know the thread than obviously metric.

If you have a bolt supplier locally they should be able to ID the thread for you.

Some time ago I bought a thread fixer the re-cuts the threads of bolt/studs and holes. I bought it at Princess Auto here in Canada, but I would be surprised if Harbor Frieght or the likes does not have one. It has saved my butt several times.

BigRed good to see you are still out there! How do you find the shift changes with the Powerflex bushes? Are they a bit rougher and do you get more vibrations through the steering? Thanks for the part numbers, I have a few lower torque rods that need new bushes to keep as spares or pass on!
