Just like those 01 AW55-50SN Transmissions, huh? Every manufacturer of auto parts has a failure rate. Reengineering and/or overbuilding parts slews the results.

Lemforder is aftermarket, same brand that makes the OE control arms for Volvo. No need to put Meyle or Febi stuff only to replace it again 1-2 years later. We are not talking here about 1-2 Meyle control arms that failed because of a manufacturing defect. And the 2003+ Aisin transmissions only failed because the fluid wasn't replaced.

Just because someone makes OE doesn't mean that they make another brand with the same quality! We find this all the time in competitive shooting. Lapua makes Midas and Center-X. Both on the same line... One is $15/box. Other is $10/box. Why the price difference?? Shoot it and you'll know. Now to add to that, they also make SkJag... at $5/box... On the same line again.. and although it shoots well, it doesn't shoot as well as the others!

This happens because when they set the line, they make all the Midas 1st... then Center-X... and so on, so although it is the same line, it's made after all the parts are worn in and just has a little lower accuracy. I would imagine that auto parts are no different. OE meets a certain spec and formulation. Lemforder gets 2nd run and uses formula X (due to contract stipulations.). Or possibly 1st run, but I doubt that given the amount of $$ trading hands.

So Lemforder may make OE, but is OE the same, better or worse than Lemforder? No way to know unless we find someone that actually works the line... like we did in the Lapua plant!

And we are not talking about 1 or 2 2000-2003 AW55s that failed long before fluid changes would have been an issue. Check it and you'll see.

Again, it's a choice and I choose to give FCP, (or Amazon or eBay, depending on who has the best price) my biz for whatever I deem necessary... be it OEM, Lemforder, Myele. You give them yours for whatever you choose to. We'll save the Febi for the kids that have more $$ than brains! We can just let it go at that.

Cheers!!
