Hello,
Writing from Florida.
I recently took my 1989 240 GL (non-turbo) wagon w/ 202k miles to my local and trusted Volvo ONLY mechanic in downtown Orlando for a kick down cable replacement.
I had them run my codes to see the reason for the "check engine light" and they came back with a code referring to the O2 Sensor.
Like I said.. I like those guys, their knowledge, professionalism, integrity and honesty, however we all try to save a few bucks here and there trying to do certain repairs (that we can) ourselves.
Question I have is I located a BOSCH Universal O2 Sensor for the 89-03 240 Volvos with three wires (like mine) with the splicers on EBAY for a very good price compared to others listed in the Swedish parts houses found online.
Does anyone recommend the swap for one of these?
I mean the price is what is tempting me, and there is that old saying "you get what you pay for" but it is a BOSCH.
Also... The HAYNES book, which I hate, says so little about the replacement. Does anyone have an info they can share on the procedure? Is there anything the Haynes book is probably not telling me? Or is it as simple as they say?
Thanks
Eric
