Another etm post

So I had the chance to buy a 2000 Volvo S80 for an extremely low price. I went and checked it out and did my research and I figured it was the etm. So I bought the car and checked out the etm and it was a new one but it was still in limp mode or whatever it's called. So rather then towing it to the nearest dealership (over 50 miles away) can I just purchase a used one made for my car for cheap and use the tps sensor from the new car? Would that work or do I have to reprogram it? Please help
