2007 s60 Rad fan on high

Post by kvengel »

Hi Folks,
I have an 2007 s60 turbo where the rad fan stayed on high this winter. I installed a new thermostat & sensor in housing, nope.
So for the cold It's been unplugged. This the plug has the magenta wire (where I read changes pwm per required fan speed).
I took it in to have it diagnosed came back with needs new fan (as they only sell whole units, used here are not found).
So I shelled out 600 for the fan and the day i fired it up with new fan unit worked briefly.
What triggers a fan on high, no signal or as i read 10 ms or 20 ms at 100 hz.
Thanks,
Keith

Check your A/C is charged. My 2005 has been doing the same thing for months (waiting on a relative to remember their HVAC vacuum pump to recharge system) since I replaced condenser.
