Turn signal problem with 1998 S70

One more thing. I did check fuse #27 and it looks fine. Changed it just to be sure but it made no difference.

I have a 2000 V70 with a slightly different problem. The hazard flasher and lights work fine but the signal switch does not activate the signal lights nor the flasher.
Any advice please?

The same advice for this post would hold. Check ignition switch supplied power.
Ignition switch supplies power for the turns. The hazards run on constant battery power.

Fuse 27 may look OK, but is there actually power in and out of it? There's a set of contacts
in the ignition switch and a relay between the battery and that fuse, so meter it to be sure.
Look for "key on" power while it's in place. Check at the two little nibs on top of the fuse.

Thanks BEJ. The thing is everything else works on the electrical except the signal flasher and signal lights. You think it could be the ignition switch itself? That would be an expensive fix. I've got a line on the turn switch itself at a junkyard for $40 and was going to try it out to see if that's it. If not, I'll guess I'll look at other possibilities.
I'll take your advice on posting it new.

I think that you should double check for power at the fuse.
It's all about eliminating things. You may also have a bad
turn signal switch or the wiring/connectors to it.

But step 1 - Confirm that power is getting through the fuse.
It's quick, easy and takes very little time to check out.

And if it IS the electrical part of the ignition switch, the
contact section isn't that expensive and can be easily changed.

My 1998 S70 with 185K has an intermittent problem: Turn signals sometimes don't work (no green light on the dash and let's say turning right, the R front/rear lights do not flash). Other times it works perfectly. And when the problem happens, the hazard switch works just fine.
From reading forums on this particular topic (Turn signal not working but hazard switch is fine), there are 3 possible culprits:

1- Turn Signal Stalk Assembly (usually fails to "cancel")

2- Hazard Switch itself.

3- Ignition Switch: I am leaning toward this as a culprit. Can someone with the exact same problem chime in?

Mine was the ignition switch. Shift lock, HVAC, and turn signals all acted up together when very hot or cold outside. Turned out jiggling the key or turning it back slightly would get everything to fire up again.

I did replace the hazard switch as well, but it wasn't the issue.

Turn signal failing to "cancel" is usually the clock spring in the steering wheel.

Now it makes sense to me that the Ignition Switch can do this.
Below is the photo from another thread, if you look at the very first YELLOW arrow, it comes from "15" (aka Key in "Position II"), so if the problem is at the Ignition Switch, there is no current flow to Fuse #27.

Now you mentioned the Shift Lock, I noticed that my shift lock was intermittent too.
Will replace the Ignition Switch!

Jblackburn was correct, brand-new ignition switch solved all these issues. Likely corrosion at one of the ”30” terminals inside the ignition switch, I have no desire to open it up and clean the contacts as abscate posted in his DIY. New ign switch is $55.

Jblackburn was correct, brand-new ignition switch solved all these issues. Likely corrosion at one of the ”30” terminals inside the ignition switch, I have no desire to open it up and clean the contacts as abscate posted in his DIY. New ign switch is $55.

Easy fixes are always the best!
