Code P0013
Because of this site it has been a long time since I have had an issue with my 2000 S80 T6. My car had a oil leak that we found was the seal on the rear left side of the motor. The seal is under an aluminum housing that contains a camshaft sensor. During the oil leak my check engine light came on with the code of P0013. Assuming it was the sensor by the timing belt, I replaced it. Yet still my car is throwing the P0013 code. So my question is ... Would the sensor located where I had the oil leak throw that same code? Why I think it might be that one is because it was covered in oil for the 6 months I had the oil leak. The car was not driven, only moved in and out of the garage, however it leaked a half quart each time it was started and sat. Or could it still be the sensor by the timing belt since the wiring situation there seems problematic? Thanks for any pertinent info!

Thank you, yes that is correct that is the solenoid by the timing belt. It has been replaced. What I am wondering since there are two camshaft solenoid is if that both throw the same code or if these cars are very specific to this particular code. I know that some codes can relate to more than one thing so I was wondering the same about code P0013.

The cam sensor is on the driver side of the head and the VVT solenoid(there's only one) is located on the passenger top of the head over the exhaust cam. I would check the wiring and also check the plug that it is seated correctly and both pins are in the plug. The pins on the solenoid tend to bend if the plug is inserted at an angle. You can also remove it and test it on a 12v power supply to make sure it works. When it gets power it should thump open, sounds like a dull click. If it is working than trace the wires to make sure there are no shorts on the harness. I have noticed some wires begin to break where the wire loom comes out of the cover on the driver side right by the upper engine mount.rerobin66 wrote: ↑27 May 2017, 10:38 Thank you, yes that is correct that is the solenoid by the timing belt. Thank you that is what I will do. I do think the wiring on the replacement solenoid seemed a bit awkward, splicing and all. So I think that is certainly the best place to look first. Chow!

I recently redid mine and I also have a replacement VVT solenoid which has given me trouble due to wiring from previous owner.
