Looks Normal but door remains unlocked

Post by Itw02 »

Hi all,

This is my first post, thank you in advance for the assistance!

I've been reading the forum looking for answers to this issue and haven't found one specifically addressing it, it seems there's a lot of topics about doors staying locked-- I'm having the opposite problem, I can't get it to lock:

I have a 99 v70, the door lock seems to function completely normally with fob, key, door button or by manually pushing the door lock post, (in all cases lock post moves normally) however if then you try to open the front passenger door from the outside it is in fact always unlocked (also setting off the alarm).

Seems like the door latch motor issue people experience when it's always locked, might not be the problem in this case. Thoughts?

I've seen this on a friend's 98 S70. Replaced the actuator with another- took it apart and noticed a gear had failed internally. I've actually seen a few cases of this.
Very easy job to do- make sure you have gorilla glue on hand though, the door panel clips like to fall off.
98-00 S/V/XC70 actuators will work.
