MAF on my 1st photo is an insert from 0 280 217 107. I removed it from my own car (S70T5, 1997, M4.4) to make a photo, specially for you.
I have not 0 280 217 002 right now, because I lent it to one of my clients. Maybe, later I'll make a photo. But they are REALLY different...
0 280 217 002 provides about 2.7 Volts at signal wire (pin #4) with zero air flow (ignition is on, engine stopped). 0 280 217 107 provides about 0.1-0.2 Volts with the same conditions.
Need any more proofs? I have them...
If my English is bad, please correct me

Azik09...
You don't need to prove anything. With info you provided it is clear that they have different specs.
Thank you, because you saved us from further research about it and shed some light on interchange ability question.
I never had an old style maf by hand to compare it with new style one.
I knew that part numbers are different and i know all about their different engine managements, but somehow i wondered if those Mafs would be the same internally..as just an inserts.
Now it is clear that they aren't.

I put the other insert it in my car.
It runs exactly the same, but if it would only be a bit different, I dont think i would notice anyway.

It has been running fine with the other maf for all this time now.
Drove almost 4000kms and still not had to disconnect and reconnect the maf.
So maybe the old maf itself was just faulty.. Good chance since it was from 95 and 300000kms old..
Bought this one with the whole top of the filterbox and a complete seatbelt for 30 euros. Good price for a 2012 maf.
I even used a little less lpg overall. After installing the lpg I got very picky when it comes to keeping receipts and calculating fuel usage. ;)
Maybe it was just driving style, but I actuallly had more traffic than usual. And always do only 100 on cruise control.

And even better news. This week the engine check light spontanously turned off by itself.
So no more lights on in the dash!! I was happy like a child. :)

Finally the light has burned out!!

:-)

I forget the protocol exactly but the ECU takes something like 6 cycles without fault before it clears an existing condition.

It came back for a short time and went of again.. within hours of each other.
Will get the garage to check on it one of these days.
