Volvo 850 brake fluid Dot 3 or 4?

1997 - 2000 S70, S70 AWD
1997 - 2000 V70, V70 AWD
1997 - 2000 V70-XC
1997 - 2004 C70

From this discussion, since I don't know what's in my system, but I do know it has been in there for at least more than 5 years, it would be best to use Dot 4 and make sure it replaces all the existing fluid.

It should be stamped at brake fluid reservoir and it should say DOT4.
'97 850 2.5 20v / fully equipped / Motronic 4.4 from the factory / upgraded with S,V,C,XC70 instrument cluster / polar white wagon
