Can I increase idle RPM? Topic is solved
Can I increase idle RPM?
I'm trying to increase my idle to about 850rpm. Is it possible to have this programmed?

It is a question even the dealership seemed not to be able to answer for me. My 2004 S80 T6 had it's idle changed after a software update long ago. It suddenly idled more often at the 650 area even with the ac on and still bumps up to around 850 (slightly higher) in hot weather. I still have never figured the rym or reason for why it chooses one over the other. I thought for the longest that above 80 degrees outside was the determining factor for the higher rpm, but outside temperature, ac on or off, how long the trip don't seem to be the determining factor by itself. After the changes occurred I took the car in thinking something was wrong to find out the software had been updated the visit before and the best the mechanic explained is nothing could be done to make the engine idle at one rpm always. I noticed the 2017 S60 T5 loaner I just had for a week had the same two idle rpm with no apparent reason for the selection of 650 or really just below 900. I read so many posts about non Volvo recalibration of the computer for all sorts of reasons but never to get rid of the two idle rpm to settle on one constant idle rpm. I would think the tune guy people talk about on here might be a good guy to ask. June

It increases on hot days when a/c is on for two reasons; to circulate coolant faster keeping the engine cool and to cycle refrigerant faster to keep you cool. I'm trying to cheat the system to help a hard downshift.June wrote: ↑17 Jun 2017, 19:02It is a question even the dealership seemed not to be able to answer for me.
