First order of business, you do not identify the engine type (which in turn defines the transmission) in your post. You can add this to your signature (add a 2.5T or T6 or V8 after your "2005 XC90"), then folks won't need to ask.

For the 2005 model year, the US XC90 was offered in 2.5T, T6, and V8 engines, each with a different transmission (AW5x for the 2.5, 4T65 for the T6, TF-80SC for the V8).

Easy answer is no, a cable from the S60 and V70 and XC70 series is not compatible with the XC90, at least as far as part numbers go (PN for these models is 30759238).

For the XC90, 2.5T the PN is 30759239, for the T6 the PN is 30759241, and for the V8 the PN is 30759240. All different in one form or another.

You may find a used cable from one of the breakers (Erie VoVo as example), otherwise OE reseller cost for a new cable is around $125 plus shipping.

Good luck !
