Yeah, I'm figuring that I'm going to need to pull that bastard back out. Even with the small bit driver with the flexible extension, it's still a major PITA to get two of those torx screws back in place.

I'm *assuming* that it is getting the "active too long" error because it runs out of movement. The gear appeared to turn pretty quickly when I tested it with a 9V battery.

(An additional bonus to the JY trip to get the damper motors was the discovery of a 95% good dash (with all firewall mounts intact) for the car).

I want to ask a dumb question: can you wedge the Floor damper opened permanently? This way you do not waste more time on this nonsense.

I currently has error light on the ECC on startup, which lasts about 15 sec then the light goes off.
Air flow is fine so I do not want to spend time with this.

Well, I no longer seem to have an issue with the Floor/Def damper. The only DTC I'm getting is for the Ventilation Damper. My issue may now be that I didn't set it up in the proper orientation to start.

When the Floor/Def damper was non-functional, I did have it held open, because that's what the wife wanted. The EEC has other ideas when it's working as intended, from what I read in the manual. (If you have full cooling set, it puts all air out the dash vents at higher outside temps).

I finally was able to get time with the car to address this.

I pulled the damper motor back out and set the gear more in the middle of its range. Once reinstalled, I was able to clear the codes and do the damper motor position reset. The reset took this time and there are no flashing lights upon start-up!

We'll see how long it lasts, but so far, so good.

It has driven you nuts for a long time, but hopefully this is it now back to full operation! These types of issues will drive you nuts, but once you fix them (beat them!) it makes you feel great!
