Free ’65 544 rust bucket in Bayonne , NJ

I got an email today from Mike (no forum account):

I have a unique ’65 544 rust bucket that I need to dispose of. I hand built this in the late 70’s and hate to send good (drivetrain) parts go to the recycler.
Just offering to anyone who wants it. Free ! Can load on a trailer or flatbed. Located in Bayonne , NJ
Needs to go ASAP

Can you find out if this is still available? Not sure how to get it to Calgary, Canada, but have been looking at a 59 PV445 Duett wagon, but it has no interior. So basically does the owner have any of the interior and has he by chance stashed any of the stuff he remove from the rear section? Was it a wagon or a PV544 beatle back before it was transformed?

It is always a shame to see an old car go to the crusher. I was not looking at it to restore, but for pieces for a PV445 Duett that has come on my radar. The car has had some mods (front disc brakes and B20 rather than the anemic B16. Car runs and drives but will need a fair amount of restoration to give it some long term rust resistance.

I'm struggling on the price the owner wants. He is correct in some ways what he wants for it, but it needs (in my opinion) a fair amount of dings removed and a lot of interior work including a headliner. Strangely there are companies out there that supply those! Easier to find parts for a nearly 60 year old car (12 came to Canada) than it is for my 2000 V70R!!!
