Complete parts car – 2000 V70XC - Northern Utah [w/pics]

Post by leapdragon »

Hi all,

If anyone is in need of a complete parts car — 2000 V70 XC silver/charcoal — in the northern Utah/Idaho/Wyoming/Colorado area, let me know. It wouldn't be free, but it wouldn't be expensive. You'd need to come tow it away. 160k miles. Some conditions:

- Engine good
- Tranny good
- Drive shaft good
- Electronics good
- Interior fair, no tears anywhere but cracking and wear on seats, vinyl pulled away on door panels by heat, etc.

Replaced since 140k: evap purge valve, evap vent valve, OEM plugs, all five coils, battery, interior blower, water pump, coolant hoses, fuel pump (both halves), engine air filter, cabin air filter, MAF sensor. Most of the other parts should also be serviceable too. All the interior controls and the radio are good. Seat electronics (heaters, positioners) work, sunroof works, etc.

I'm junking it because I rear-ended someone (about 10mph) with a high rear tow package (SUV). Crunched the hood and headlights area, cracked the radiator and fan shroud and moved them about two inches toward the engine block, dumped the coolant, etc. All of the front-end air/breather/turbo piping is jostled loose, so while the car starts right now and sputters (I don't run it for long because no coolant), the fuel mix and idle are all wrong and it throws a P0237 (only code) and wants to stall.

This was my daily driver for nearly a decade until this happened in late April, and while I could have self-done the radiator, fan+shroud, and so on to get it back to running condition engine-bay-wise, I did not want to deal with the body work (hood totally in need of replacement, headlights smashed, and side panel on driver's side has popped loose). So I just bought an '02 V70 XC instead and have been putting all of my labor and dollars into that instead.

PCV was never done and there's a decent cam seal leak though negative pressure seems good. Has always been run with Mobil 1. It's right on the boundary between being a good donor car and/or fix-up project for someone young that wants to tackle it, and being too old to be worth it and just junkable by the ton. But it was running with zero problems except the (relatively recent) cam seal leak until April.

Again, let me know if you're in the region and interested in a parts car/project car. I figured someone here that lives in the region may want it for their high school kid to fix up and/or to pull the engine and/or trans and/or seats and/or whatever.

Shoot me a message!

Ha, yeah gents, there aren't too many Volvos in this area. This one was bought in Jersey when I lived in NYC. Drove it across the country to Utah, would be hilarious to think about towing it back.

Thanks for posting, and good luck finding the parts you need in your neck of the woods.
