Front Subframe Poly Inserts

Post by Georgeandkira »

These have come up a lot.
I did a search in order to find a suitable thread onto which to add my product review.
Interestingly enough, the inserts are frequently mentioned in broad discussions regarding tightening the front end, replacing steering racks and control arms so I decided to specifically mention them here.

They tightened up the feel of the steering in my car. I'd recommend them highly though they aren't an imperative.
IPDUSA.com has them on special for $30; P/N 120168. The seller includes a tube of lube and one of thread locker. I applied the lube to the inner and outer edges of the protrusions then tapped the inserts into the bushings' voids with a small hammer.
They go right in and the bolt and large washer lands them the rest of the way.

13mm and 18mm are all that's needed "tool wise". You want to raise the vehicle enough to fit an impact gun. I used a small scissors jack to keep each corner of the frame in place as I removed its bolt. I didn't think flexing the other 3 corners was a good thing to do.

These were worth the time, money and effort. Kira

I know. I saw your post when I was searching the topic.
The control arm poly bushings I installed on my '02 had a "stronger" effect but the installation of these is way less involved.
When you find them (I read that too) pop 'em in. Visiting Washington's Retreat Route? Drop by. Will work for beer!
Several cases of the stuff.
