So, I was here a few months ago with an issue that my car was running really rich when the maf was connected. Well after all this time I noticed the intercooler housing was completely broke open. So today, using a CPVC plug and a lot of JB, I plugged the massive hole up. I then connected the Maf up, doing the zip-tie trick and everything, reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. Then I did the "reprogram" technique of letting it idle for a few in P then in D then drove at about 30% throttle for a while. When hitting the accelerator after letting off of it, it'd massively hesitate. I'm talking a 1-2 second pause before it'd accelerate, but when it did it seemed fine and had power. No check engine light, but got codes read anyway and pulled up the code saying it's too lean. So I tried driving without the MAF again and drives great and has good power. I've replaced the MAF twice now so I know that's not what it is. I know it's a lot to follow, but any advice would help. My car has a lot left in it and I want to keep it healthy but taking it to a Clinic or Dealership for a $80+ diagnostic fee and then the service is much more than I want to pay when I could possibly fix it myself. Thank you very much.

What codes do you get exactly? The p Code will help You track the fault.

Get the codes scanned for free at Autozone if you don't have an OBD2 scanner. That will be the best first step to take here. It sounds sensor-related.
Also, I would stop using 87 octane in a turbo Volvo. Up it to 93... 87 burns valves.

I did have them checked, that's why I made the posit. I don't remember the code. But it was something like p0171 and the description was "system too lean"bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑21 May 2017, 20:56 Get the codes scanned for free at Autozone if you don't have an OBD2 scanner. You've still got vacuum leaks in the induction after the MAF

1. Where did you get the MAF?
2. What brand is the MAF?
3. Is the PCV system serviceable?
4. Did you have the intercooler pressure tested to make sure it doesn't have any other leaks?
