Volvo owner hoping... (re: 90', 740 in bad shape)

Post by theWIFES_S70 »

If there's one thing I've learned about Volvo owners it is how the overwhelming majority of us believe in "holding on" to our vehicles. These cars take their financial, mental, and physical tolls on us, but we do it because, well, we feel rewarded by it all somehow. But what about when you can no longer hold on?

Just came across this car:
1990 Volvo 740 gl sedan - $325 (Uniondale)
https://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/cto/ ... 54611.html

Car needs thousands of dollars in repairs... I know scrap rates around here in NYC so I'm sure he's only getting a $50 offer (if that) for the car. They might be offering to pick it up for free. The donation tax deduction, maybe a $100? So instead, the owner has listed the car, hopeful that someone will take a chance on the old girl. I wonder if I'll feel the same way when the time comes...

Last time I looked BMW had the highest lease rate ( poor people spending stupid money trying to look rich) and Volvo the lowest. Volvos definitely tend to buyers with acumen.
