Dual Mass Flywheel

Post by rhlee222 »

Hi Everyone,
I own a 2005 S40 2.5T with a 6 speed manual trans. 150000 miles. The dual mass pressure plate went out. My mechanic is trying to get this fixed at a reasonable cost. The Volvo Dual mass is over $1000. and a solid flywheel he found is $600. I found a Dual Mass flywheel made by a company called LUK. Summit racing sells it for $468. which is a good price. has anyone had experience with this brand? I am also looking for recommendations as to where to buy a solid flywheel to replace the dual mass. Please let me know your thoughts and recommendations.
Thanks,
Rick

Careful with the aftermarket part. A UK forum here has plenty of people with manual transmissions, I know on the S60 they put back a single mass flywheel, but the guys really recommend only one or two brands. And probably a good moment to check/replace the slave cylinder. Maybe have a look/ask them, I know there are topics on the subject somewhere on the forum

Luk is a good brnd and might even be the oem supplier. I use that brand of DMF on Dodge trucks with Cummins engine regularly.
