Rack and Pinion Installation Help - Stuck

We are replacing the rack and pinion on our 98 S70. We've removed the old rack and have the new one in place (although we haven't bolted it in yet). We have the splines lined up but can only get the shaft about 2/3 of the way into the U-joint. We can't get it to go that remaining 1/4 inch needed in order to put the bolt in. We've tried lots of grease and lots of force, but it won't budge any further. Any suggestions, tricks or tips would be very much appreciated.

Got it! Just in case someone experiences the same issue, we attached a c-clamp to the u-joint and then were able to use a long bar inserted through the top of the engine to tap (not gently) the c-clamp by using a hammer on the bar at different angles until it went in. May not be the easiest way, and took some time, but it eventually worked.

I usually raise the subframe.
