If I am understanding your post correctly I believe the light you are talking about is the Lambda light. It is the same as the Check Engine Light on US spec cars. It essentially means the car is mad about something.

The good news is that you can read codes that will narrow the problem down.

Instructions on reading the codes is here:

http://volvospeed.com/CheckEngine.php

Read the codes from socket A-2 and post them back here. We can then give you advice on how to fix the problem or problems.

Welcome to the board. Take your time, use periods " . ", and make slow, clear sentences. There are a lot of knowledgable people on the board who can help you out.

hi in desperation called out diagnostic mechanic who said this prob was a faulty coil

1 coil and ign amp replaced still same prob
2crank sensor replaced still the same
3fuel pump relay replaced still same
4 rotor arm replaced
5 fuel filter changed
now getting to the realy silly stage justcant get it to run well maybe for 2mins then just cuts out dead no misfire before this happens
if you go back and check again you find no spark from coil yet again
i hope u may have an answer or anyone else that reads this may have
i am now beginning to think the prob maybe immobiliser or the ec u itself waiting in hope for some sort of info

Codes would be a huge help here but lacking that information double check, no triple check, the battery connections for signs of corrosion.

I am doubting the immobilizer since it kills the starter. From what I glean from your posts the car will still crank over.

Make sure that the wiring from the Crankshaft Position Sensor is routed well away from your coil wire to the distributor. In its natural state it wants to loop up right next to the coil wire which can cause interference to its signal. I doubt that is really your problem but it is a good one to eliminate.

The guy who "knew the problem" is throwing parts into it?
And it was not fixed on the first guess?

we can tell you esanctly haw to fizx the problemw asbut if we throw letterfs out there with out ...

Is this easier to read? Some clear sentences and punctuation? We empathize with you. Communication is especially difficult above a second-grade level when one is busy pulling their hair out over a poorly-running car.

I thought a person needed a scanner at the OBDII. Great news !!!

Hey Sperry,

How did you attain contributor status w/ only 24 posts. I've doubled your slack performance and only have a lousy 1 1/2 stars...What gives.
