AC idle change

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

AC idle change

My previous vehicle automatically increased idle speed approximately 200 RPM when AC was running. My 2001 S80 does not do this. Is this normal for S80 with 2.9? Hope so.....

My 2003 S60 doesn't do it either, the rpm is stable every time the compressor is engaging. Think that,s the way it should be. Perhaps your previous car had an issue with the compressor? (lacking oil, pulley bearing, etc)

Thanks for the good news.
For what I learned on a 3000 forum years ago, an increase in idle rpm was standard- not sure why.
