Son's 850 and Ford Taurus Totaled by drunk driver last night

Strut is bent at the flanges connecting to the knuckle, LCA being cast looks
okay, I think it would probably crack rather than bend.
Strut is out, going to see if FCP gives me a new one.

Pete, sorry to hear again of the hassles we endure due to careless other drivers. I would have the sub-frame and the LCA mounts checked for damage and straightness. The LCA as you say is fairly robust but the mounts not so much.

It is a shame you are so far away as I possibly still have a pair of good aftermarket LCA's kicking around. Shipping is the killer.

Try Erie Vo-Vo. They can't be too far away in NYC area. Maybe you can get correct panels in the right colors from them along with any other parts you need. They have a lifetime warranty on their OE used parts.

Brought the strut into FCP and they compared the mount area to a Sachs
which was perfectly straight of course. They are replacing it tomorrow since
they didn't have the Bilstein in stock. I did noticed that the Sachs had the
metal doubled up in the area where the Bilstein was bent.

Local guy says that the LCA is not cast and is probably bent, but it looks fine,
not sure if he really knows these cars.

Given the steel plate on the strut was this bent, the lca also was under a good amount of force. The bushings may also be damaged internally. I'd have a close look at the lca for tiny cracks.

I'm thinking doors, too. harrys in Hazelton might be a good place to look for doors, too, if it looks like you can patch it up. We have a couple of members who hit that on occasion.

Thanks again, let's get it fixed mechanically, then we will see about doors.
My neighbor is an auto body guy who does side work in his garage. He will
fix the fender if we get doors for a very good price.
I fix their PCs in return.
