hi again not sure what all the argueing is about with some of the others here but then thats between them
the other guy came back today and fitted lambda senor
still no go
have checked the codes as you advised below is what i came up with
jumper in socket no 2 came up 1 1 1 all clear
jumper in no 6 came up with codes as shown below
214 vss signal intermittent
324 cam signal------------
314cam signal absent
131 vss absent
in desperation me and the wife did this check and then cleared the codes and HOORAY CAR IS NOW RUNNING
other fellow did not clear the codes was this the reason ???????
the only prob left is if you get to 4500 revs the light comes back on but anything below all is fine but i can cope with that unless u can advise any further
thanks again for all the help sure i will be back at some point take care

congratulations,
Somtimes a 'loaded' computer can cause a 'Volvo' to act up. I have to wonder if there may be causes of the computer loading up and you have to clear it again. If I'm not mistaken, Unhooking the battery will clear it.
I have found this to be a very friendly community, joined together in "Mutual Misery"
See how it works. I didn't actually mean that we are all miserable. To the contrary, I get major satisfaction out of fixing a problem w/ my car. Although I may want to 'pull hair' somewhere in the process.
I don't know what the codes mean . I am just learning my way around this 'new' technology myself.

Sometimes we speak in jest and want the person we are talking to know that we're just kidding around. That's when we employ the little happy faces ( Emoticons )hi again not sure what all the argueing is about with some of the others here bt then thats between them
