Hey there.
I am having an issue with my sel turning on every time I start my 1997 850 glc. The light stays on for about 5km or so then turns off. I hooked up my code reader and found that it is a p410 error.
I have checked the hoses and even put the diode on my Bosch ecm. That didn't stop the light from coming on giving the code. I have reset the code many times and it comes back every time on restart.
I know it has to do with the sas. But I am looking for any possibilities as to what the issue may be.
I was thinking that the ecm was looking for a feedback signal from the relay or solenoid. But I'm not too sure and didn't want to invest in something that may not fix my issue.
Thanks for any help that may be given.

Have you checked and verified the pump for the SAS is turning on when you first start the car?
Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Sorry about the lateness of the response.
I have jumped out the pump and have replaced the solenoid. There is power to the plug on the solinoid, but it doesn't switch over to allow the vacuum to move through it. I tried switching the hose to the vacuum tree to see if that would do anything and no luck. The check valve to the solenoid seems to work fine as I have removed it and tests it as well.
I have hooked up my obd 2 and every time I turn the vehicle on the code shows up. I clear the code and even after driving for 50km to work, if I turn the car off and turn it back on the code shows up.
I thought the pump is only called for the first couple of minutes of driving. So I am confused as to why the code shows up after a lengthy drive.
Thanks for any help that is offered.
