Being a 2007 model that would be the 6 speed TF-80SC. Which engine is fitted V8 or 3.2?

Both were available in 2007. The V8 has more power than the inline 6 3.2. The V8 is a gas guzzler if that is of concern to you. If you're concerned with fuel economy stick look for a 3.2. If econ is a priority and you don't really need AWD look for a 3.2 FWD.precopster wrote: ↑14 Oct 2017, 06:58

Some interesting info somewhat relevant to the conversation. I'm visiting relatives this week in the Chicago area. One has a '13 GMC terrain, the other drives a '16 Ford Fusion 2.5NA. Neither of these vehicles use an AW transmission, I looked up the trans fluid intervals for both out of curiosity.
The GMC Terrain has 60k miles on it, and is past due for a trans flush (every 45k). I let him know. He was not aware and he didn't realize he had to worry about this yet.
The trans OCI for the Ford Fusion is more interesting. On the Ford official site you put in your mileage and driving conditions. I caught that under severe service (defined as mostly low speed stop and go/idling) they recommend the trans fluid be changed every 30k on the Fusion. But if you select 'normal' driving conditions there is no recommended change all the way out to 140k. Their service interval tables stop at 140k, leading me to suspect those cars are designed to fall apart/be junked by then. Which was sort of a friends' experience with his Focus. Since the one that drives the Fusion goes half way around I-294 to work every day during rush hour (would be considered mixed) we concluded every 50k would probably be appropriate for his car. He has just over 30k on it at this time.

I know that both engines were available in that year and that is why I asked the poster which engine he has. Curious to know which engine because if he had the extra torque of the V8 that is pretty interesting to see if the TF-80SC can handle this engine and withstand no fluid changes in addition.

That is interesting both the V8 and 6 cylinder share the same transmission. If it survives in the V8 I agree it should be okay in the 6. Looks like you should avoid the early 2007 models.

The TF80 is a good transmission.. Just pay close attention to it during the test drive. And also pull up the vehicle history report and try to gauge from previous owner(s) general location whether it was likely ever used as a daily commute vehicle in a major city known for expressways that turn into a parking lot every day like the expressways leading into and out of downtown Chicago does.
People getting 150-200k miles out of these without ever changing the fluid are most likely suburban/rural dwellers who rarely if ever drive in these conditions.
If it came from one of those areas but has less than 50-80k miles on it just make sure you change the fluid pronto after buying it.

Entirely probable that lots of folks have cars with high miles and no transmission fluid changes ever. Probably lots of folks who have their original brake, rear diff, and angle gear fluids as well as the original AOC with an old filter that's probably pretty filthy by now. Heck, a guy on Swedespeed just did a thread about replacing his fuel filter at 180k (wrote about how nice the engine starts now).
Go figure.
