'98 S70 - front brake pad installation

Post by BarryG »

I did the front pads on my S70 on Friday, for the first time, and all went well EXCEPT for the bloody re-installation of the retainer springs! I stuffed about for about 15 minutes each side before I managed to wrestle them into place.
Please, anyone, is there a tip to make it less of a hassle?
I think I must have been doing something wrong, I plugged in the end into the top hole, placed the bottom of the spring behind the projection on the caliper, and could not for the life of me get the end of the spring into the hole. I really don't know how it eventually went in - must have been all the swearing finally worked :-)
Cheers
Barry

They are kind of a bear. I stick both ends into their respective holes and then use screwdriver and a pair of pliers to coerce them back over the catch tabs.

Thanks, I've thought about it (lots!) more and will try that next time. Which will be soon as I can't get away with using the old rotors so I've bought some new ones from Volvo and will get around to installing them in the next week or so.
Cheers
Barry
