Vinyl dash kits - anyone have one?

I've been thinking about updating the interior a bit with a dash kit... the fake wood or brushed aluminum pieces you stick to the dash in various places?... Anyway, I came across a "vinyl" dash kit, which seems simply to be decals that stick on in places. The cost is hella cheaper, and I thought the idea of it being so thin would make it look a lot more flush with the various panels. On the other hand, decals could be "cheap" looking or not as durable. Just wondering if anyone has used them before?
