2001 XC70 starts...then cuts out immidiatly

Post by ChadJ »

Hey guys,

2001XC70 was a crank but no fire one morning. Read a bunch and sounded like I should start with the cam position sensor. After a couple months of procrastinating I went the local pick and pull and got one. Replaced it and it started (after some effort and recharging the battery). Ran rough but assumed it needed to work through whatever gas may have been in the cylinders or whatever from trying to start it before. Smoothed out a bit so went to take it around the block to maybe help clear it out and it went limp...I assumed. Became unresponsive to the throttle and eventually died. Restarted but cut off straight away. Tried again same deal. Got it towed back home and need to know what's next...an old forum mentioned the throttle body or position sensor but I can't seem to find that post. Can't drive it to get ombd and can't afford to buy one currently.....any suggestions?

You gotta find a way to get the codes, if you have a smart phone there are cheap options.
