850 t5 conversion

Post by Seany27 »

Anyone know if I have to swap my wiring from the ecu to the fuse box? The car originally was fenix 5.2 single ecu, very similar to the T5 harness, but for some reason, the injectors won't pulse, so close yet so far from finishing this.

Non turbo to turbo conversion?
That's not gonna work.
Especially from 10v to a 20v engine conversion.

Why not? What about swapping all the harness, or an aftermarket ecu?

Ecu housing pinout is totally different and different powered.
Totally different cars.
You will need a pretty good electrician, time and knowledge to make it run properly.
It's not simple conversion at all.

From what I've seen on wiring diagrams is everything is in the same position, apart from tcv which the car didn't have before, it does start for a little with fuel put down the cylinders and occasionally on cylinder 2 and 3 the noid lights up, it's got to be something between the ecu and fuse box, can't be that far off

I allready told you....everything is different....emissions,o2 sensors(titanium vs zirconium),transmission sensors,wiring under the dash,climate control.
These cars don't have Maf....they have Map instead....and list goes on.

If you think that you can do it....go for it,but it will give you that kind of headache that you can't imagine.

From your location i see that you're from Ireland. If so....you could try with www.volvoforums.org.uk and check there if some of those guys tried such a conversion.
10v cars are common in UK.
In U.S....they doesn't exist.

On 20v cars....injectors are powered via grey relay located at cooling fan carrier.
It's main fuel injection relay.
Complete wiring loom under the hood, under the dashboard along with fuse box and relays at cooling fan carrier from donor must be transfered to your car...and maybe it should run.
Instrument cluster should also be different electrically and visualy(Yazaki vs Vdo) and they are not interchangeable.Even if it's VDO... it's totally different electrically.
I wish you luck.

Even if you manage to make injectors to work, you're not even close, because all sensors MUST be sinchronized and work together.
It can run extremelly rich which will eventually lead you to engine failure.

Injectors are also different.....everything....everything is different.

Don't worry all that's been changed, I had a 97 V70 T5, took all the stuff in the engine bay, forgot the instrument cluster that did actually fit, as for my harness that came out of a 96 850 t5, must get me brother to go strip it,, I can get an aftermarket ecu plus wired and up and tuned, but I'm trying not to spend another 800-900 quid, oh and carbon canister I forgot to swap but I think I can plug 2 ports up

So....you actually need to match 3 totally different cars and engine managements into one?
V70 T5 have Motronic 4.4 management,'96 850 T5 have Motronic 4.3 and the one you have had Fenix 5.2.

Good luck with that....seriously.
