Polyglotism is not necessary in the US. In the US we encounter only English and a little Spanish. A person that does not know English is rare in the US.

You are right, Abscate. Dutchies are generally pretty tolerant. Except in traffic sometimes, which really bothers me. Why frustrate others and risking a crash, just to win a few seconds???

Other than that, the Dutch are pretty relaxed.
Woah, how come you know about the orange?

Getting philosophical now...: what bothers you in daily life, what would you like to change??

"The bulbs are in the white box in the corner of the larger box. The packing paper is also in the shot.
It made me laugh to try to get my head around why anyone would ship those tiny bulbs in such a large box. Nuts.
Nuts it maybe, but there is no knocking the fabulous service!
Neil."

It's Christmas time and they didn't want you guessing what was in the box!

If you think that's bad... I used to order thousands of software licenses from HP at a time for a certain government.

Each license certificate (single piece of paper) was put in a padded envelope. About 10 or so envelopes in a small box. 6 or so small boxes in a larger box. 6 or so of the larger boxes in the largest boxes. 18 of the largest boxes on a pallet...

Suffice it to say I'd order thousands of licenses and occasionally have a full 53' trailer show up at the dock. Then I'd have to remove each and every one, scan it and archive it. I asked about getting a PDF. After months of "it's a good idea" from HP I gave up and just increased the budget for box cutters when software licenses were being ordered from them...

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

My training is in optical physics. The skills that have Been most fruitful financially, since I represent international businesses worldwide, are learning languages of my clients. In my best days I could do passable Japanese Chinese Russian French German Hebrew.

I am currently trying to do Finnish which is tough.

Aah, that explains your knowledge of cultures abroad.
If you would ever like to learn some basic Dutch, or need other info on customs or culture for future business trips, let me know.

Joost

- edit: By the way, Finnish is unintelligble to me, might as well be Chinese, good luck!-
