Finally thought about taking a picture of my tailgate-working-light setup!
Have installed two 10w LED spots for easy loading and unloading as well as doing choirs (I often do carpentry for friends and work out of the tailgate).
They run of a dual battery system that also powers a 2000w pure sine wave inverter. Great for running tools or when on roadtrip.
Will post more pics of that another time.

Currently on vacation in the states and decided to go for a drive in the 855 turbo. Brake light came on, nearly lost 6oz of brake fluid. So I am now planning a trip to the pick n pull for a caliper. Does anyone have good experiences with the Volvo repair kit?

Cool setup! That would be nice to have for working out of the tailgate!jvl wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 14:36 Finally thought about taking a picture of my tailgate-working-light setup!

I'm just shocked you got the tailgate panel back off and back on without destroying it! I had to epoxy mine all back together finally after I got sick of the noise from everything creaking around with the panel out. It still creaks, but not as bad now that it's mostly together.
I rebuilt all four of mine with Centric kits from Rock Auto. I'm very happy with my braking response now (except for a "popping" feeling in the pedal sometimes... don't know what that's about). Pretty easy job with an air compressor to remove the pistons. The Centric seals seemed to be decent quality and fit well, which surprised me because I have Centric rotors and pads and I'm not too thrilled with them. My next set of brakes won't be low budget!
My rear calipers were pretty seized up when I took them apart. I got them all cleaned up and replaced the seals, the brakes were much better after that.

Nothing major but had some time to fool around tonight.
Replaced the rear trunk struts, tired of getting bumped in the head!!
Also put on an HD oil cap seal from IPD, hopefully that will clear up the oil on the top of my engine (PCV done 10K miles ago)

Well, I did snap one of the plastic mountic clips. All other clips went back into place nicely. I did order a set of new clips after breaking the one clip but did not install yet.
Original reason to open tailgate trim up was a poorly performing tailgate lock. Turned out to be some piece of plastic that was stuck in the mechanism, I think the previous owner left that there. When I had it open, I noticed the hollow space in the tailgate and realized it would be deep enough to cleanly install two spots.
Joost.

Wow. this makes two of us that did our trunk struts this past weekend. Mine weren't to the point of dropping on my head but the trunk did slam shut if you let it go. That didn't feel right to me. Now it works properly. Much better than my 2006 Honda Accord which has no dampers at all. All it has are some counter balance springs which don't work as well as shocks.

Once I got the tailgate struts done it made the tailgate trim go from loose to falling off so I did the repair kit tonight. Pre-drilled the holes like everyone says around here and it came out pretty good I think.
