Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)
Changed my passenger caliper for a junkyard part from a V70. Brakes work and I'm no longer hemorrhaging brake fluid. On to the next leak I suppose. Saw power steering fluid leaking from the tie rod boot

I noticed my coolant looked a little lower than usual earlier. Maybe it's because I've been using my heat.
On a good note, when I checked for any leaks underneath I discovered the spark plug cover screw wedged in my fender liner that I dropped last week!

I installed half of a new upper motor mount. I still need to press the new bushing in though :-/

Had two new tires installed yesterday... So what? Well, found out yesterday evening that if you only install two, they must be put on the front axle on my AWD.
Spent quite some time with great help in freezing conditions rotating tires to correct position. Found out both front rotors don't have the index pin installed. Makes for a lot of 'fun' trying to align the hub, the rotor and the wheel...

Yeah, let's have another 5F driveway party in 10 years. That was nasty cold. My work gloves got damp which really didn't work well. I was also and idiot and rolled car off jack for lack of chocks, so have to tweak my jack back into shape. Good reminder.wizechatmgr wrote: ↑31 Dec 2017, 21:20 Had two new tires installed yesterday... So what? Took me a good hour or two to thaw my fingers. Luckily everything went well last night at the office.abscate wrote: ↑01 Jan 2018, 05:04Yeah, let's have another 5F driveway party in 10 years. I replaced the coolant with the blue Pentosin NF from Advance Auto. I got it at a very good price online for less than $9 pick up at store. I have been meaning to replace the coolant since I installed a new Nissins radiator last year around this time. I had Zerex clear/yellowish color in it now it's back to blue!

I begged off the additional trans drain and fill. Too cold.

Oh, man. That's definitely no fun. I snapped my rotor pin when changing the front brakes in my '00 V70 and it was a pain in *good* weather. Definitely worth the $3 for a new one in order to avoid that juggling act again.wizechatmgr wrote: ↑31 Dec 2017, 21:20 Found out both front rotors don't have the index pin installed. I only meant to add windshield washer fluid after my drive to the train station today but ended up discovering what looks like a coolant leak. At least it smells like coolant.
I couldn't see any damp coolant lines, though the reservoir was low.
But the power steering hoses did look leaky.
What's the likelihood that I have a bad water pump vs. a PS leak? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
