92 740 turbo wagon service light on dash is suddenly on

not the check engine light but the service light...comes on then after a few minuets it goes off....why is this doing this?any help ? thanks...

This is normal. It is telling you that a service may be due. If the service has been done out of time/mileage the light can only be reset after the appropriate time/mileage.

The light can be reset by removing the rubber grommet to the left of the odometer and depressing the reset knob with a small screwdriver.
