It's difficult to tell from a video, but if I had any problem with a tensioner I would reinstall or replace it.

thank you for the answer. All parts of the timing belt. the top CVVT pulleys were replaced with original parts in both cases.

- I just replaced the WP (Aisin), TB idler pulley and tensioner pulley (Volvo OEM) in my 2005 XC90 2.5T.
- When the engine runs, the mechanical tensioner moves exactly like the video above, so it is normal to see that movement during engine operation.

Have you tried observing it with the accessory belt removed? If it goes away it's something out there that's doing it (alternator/power steering pump/AC/accessory belt tensioner). If not you've got some problem in engine management causing rough/uneven idle quality. All the stuff the timing belt goes around has moving mass. Abrupt changes in rotational speed drives the tensioner to behave like a shock absorber as it is spring loaded.

If it sounds noisy put the belt cover on.mscgunaydin wrote: ↑14 Jan 2018, 22:10 thank you for the answer. All parts of the timing belt. the top CVVT pulleys were replaced with original parts in both cases.

The tensioner needle was shaking like that on my original belt, due to wear on the pulleys. I replaced the belt and puleys but not the water pump and now the needle is perfectly stable. With new and quality pulleys I would guess something wasn't done correctly when adjusting and tightening the tensioner. Did you torque it correctly to exactly 15 lb-ft ? Higher torque and distorsion in the metal may prevent the mechanism from giving the right tension to the belt.
I would adjust again the tensioner and use a torque wrench on the 14mm bolt. The engine should be at a 15C (60F) so a heated garage may be needed if it's winter time. This video shows how to correctly readjust it and the video description mentions that you always have to fully release the tension every time before adjusting the tensioner again

all operations were carried out by an authorized volvo workshop. all parts are volvo brand. unfortunately the service workers could not find the reason for this swaying.
by the way I am writing here using google translate. I apologize for the low ratings.

We tried it out by removing the accessory belt. swaying continues.
