The Bronx Civil Court judge awarded $200 to Ida Bogner for emotional
anguish in a suit against General Motors, saying she had to ''languish
in the boondocks'' of Nova Scotia a week while awaiting a part for her
disabled 1982 car.
Early last month the Nova Scotia Legislature in Halifax approved a
motion calling on the judge, Alan J. Saks, and Mrs. Bogner to
apologize.
The Kinsmen Club in New Glasgow, not far from where the Bronx tourist
was delayed, invited Judge Saks to vacation in the area and offered
him $200 if he suffered mental anguish.
''The judge is not available to comment on this decision,'' reports
his law assistant, Janice Weissman. Mrs. Bogner says she has collected
from G.M. and has no hard feelings against anyone. ''They are lovely
people up in Nova Scotia,'' she says. ''I have nothing against Nova
Scotia. You get me a free trip and, gladly, I'll go back and make
amends.''
